The Kern County Department of Human Services is recognized statewide for its innovative programs and excellence in social work.  It provides services to families, individuals, and children through case management in Child Welfare and Employment Services. 

• Child welfare case management is tailored to meet each child's protective needs, whether they remain at home or are placed elsewhere, including relative placements and emergency shelter care.
• The CalWORKs Employment Services Program, or Welfare-to-Work, assists cash aid recipients in job preparation and placement, with customized case plans based on individual assessments.
